Speaker : Dr Vesta Chan
Dr. Chan is a specialist in Ophthalmology with expertise in vitreoretinal surgery and medical retina. Since graduation from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, she worked in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the Prince of Wales Hospital, with her last position being the team head of vitreoretinal services in New Territories East Cluster and Associate Consultant.
Dr. Chan is currently working at C-MER Dennis Lam & Partners Eye Center. She is also an Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine and the College of Ophthalmologists of Hong Kong. Dr. Chan also attained Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) at National University of Singapore, Diploma in Advanced in Medicine and Diploma in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
In addition to her enthusiasm in clinical and surgical services, Dr. Chan is keen in sharing her expertise with fellows in the industry. She has made numerous presentations in both international and local conferences and has taken the key role in research projects in her subspecialty. She is actively involved in teaching junior ophthalmologists and medical students.
Dr. Chan is eager to participate in various community services as an ophthalmologist. Being supportive to the College of Ophthalmologists of Hong Kong, she once was a member of the organizing committee in the Hong Kong Ophthalmological Symposium, committee of Anniversary Celebration and the Editorial Board of the Newsletter of the Hong Kong Ophthalmological Society (Eye Opener). Dr. Chan participates actively in various volunteer works as well. Dr. Chan often takes part in different public health education programs, such as health talks and booths for screening eye diseases. She had also performed cataract surgeries in a charity cataract program.
