Our Club's participation in the 兒童發展基金 is a major service initiative as the project which will span over a 3-year period. Through this government project, we hope to help improve the inter-generational poverty problem (跨代貧窮問題) and help promote social integration and harmony (社會共融,和諧).
Under this project, our Club's financial sponsorship to the participating children from poor families will be in the region of $300,000 (to be paid out from our 2008 flag day money). Our Club members can also serve as mentors to these children. In the 3-year project period, our Club can also organize activities (e.g. vocational visits, gatherings) for the participating children to broaden their horizon and to build up their self-confidence. These will be a meaningful way to serve our community and to fulfill our Rotary spirit.
